Compact Fluorescent Lamp Shapes

Compact fluorescent lamps are a smaller version of regular fluorescent lamps. They are a compact light source with high efficacy, a wide range of colour temperatures and long life. They are available in 3 versions: either 2-pin, 4-pin or self-ballasted electronic. 2-pin models have an internal starter and are to be used with preheat, magnetic ballasts. 4-pin models, which have no internal starter, are dimmable and are to be used with electronic ballasts. Self-ballasted, electronic versions allow for easy installation in a wide variety of applications. The medium base self-ballasted versions are a very desirable alternative to the less energy efficient incandescent lamps, which they can directly replace. Considerable energy savings can be obtained from the use of compact fluorescent lamps.
